China Society of Macroeconomics is an academic research institution subjected to the National Development and Reform Commission. The main task is to study important realistic problems in strategic plan of national economic development, the practice of macroeconomic policy and economy running, to provide the governmental departments with suggestions and consultation services and to promote the prosperity of the science. The highest powerful department is council, the department to handle routine work is the secretariat. There are two chapters of the Society known as the Research Society for the Management of Enterprise Groups Separately Listed in the State Plan and the National Special Committee on Macroeconomic Management Education. And the Societies of Macroeconomics in provincial level are set up in all the provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and a network of trans-regional planning and management departments at the municipal, prefectural and county levels.

China Society of Macroeconomics is the institution that initiates China Economics Award and China Macroeconomic Information Network.

China Society of Macroeconomics owns the network of experts covering all the fields and the information exchange network related to the State Department, all ministries and commissions and all provinces and cities.
